A BIT ABOUT ME

Just a tiny snippet

The guiding force in my interest in English and my interest in education can be boiled down to one thing: a love of stories.

The realization that every person - customer, student, and coworker alike - has their own story to tell guides me in both my personal and professional choices. I read, I write, I learn, I create. I love art, in all its forms. Engaging with others, particularly through writing, has become both a hobby and a love of mine - one which I haven't actively pursued of late.

Blogging seemed like the next logical step. Here goes nothing.

A Modern Interpretation of Arthurian Legend

With the creation of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice, a new way of telling stories was born: Literary Inspired Webseries.

As three nerdy, broke college students, my friends and I were struck by how invested we became in story we had heard told a hundred times, in a multitude of ways. By engaging the viewers through social media, the characters came to life. They seemed to be real people living in the world with us; it lent the story a realism we had never experienced before, and we were inspired.

If we had a story to retell, what would we choose? The answer, it turns out, is "The Importance of Being Earnest", by the incomparable Oscar Wilde. Later,  we decided to tackle Arthurian Legend, in all its many, fantastical forms.

Being the Transmedia Director for both of these series has been one of the most exciting and challenging experiences of my life. Engaging our viewers both as these beloved characters and as a creator was as rewarding for me as I hope it was for them; it allowed me to create a space for them to love and experience these stories in the way that inspired me to collaborate on the creation of  Severe Chills Studios, LLC with my two very best friends.
